Consumers’ preferences for local and imported culinary herbs in Gauteng province, South Africa

Demand for culinary herbs in many developing countries is currently growing due to the increased perception of their nutritional and medicinal properties. There a need understand consumers’ preferences these products. This study, therefore, analyzed determinants locally produced imported Gauteng province. The data were collected with stratified sampling method from 385 respondents using structured questionnaire. Multinomial logit regression was then employed analysis. results indicated socio-economic factors product attributes such as labeling, attractiveness packaging, availability preference both local herbs. Based on findings, study recommends that promotion must be inclusive socioeconomic factors. Res. Agric. Livest. Fish. 10(1): 61-71
